‘Gatorwine’ is the bizarre new drink trend on everyone’s lips: ‘Not like anything I’ve ever tasted’

There may actually be something to wine about here.

The latest bizarre drink trend taking over the internet is Gatorwine, which is exactly what it sounds like: Gatorade mixed with wine.

It’s unclear where exactly this mixture originated, but it was brought into the spotlight by cook and YouTuber Andrew Rea, better known as Binging with Babish, after a commenter submitted the concoction to be reviewed in a special tasting edition of Babish Culinary Universe.

In the video, it’s explained that Gatorwine is specifically equal parts light blue Gatorade and cheap red wine, defined as a bottle under $12.

“This is exactly what I need right now — some electrolytes, some booze,” Rea joked before tasting it.

After taking a sip and making a weird face, the YouTube star provided a hilarious description.

“It’s not like anything I’ve ever tasted. Ever,” he laughed. “I don’t know what to do about it. Because if I’m being honest, I’d rather drink this than Barefoot or Yellowtail.”

“Does that make me a snob or does that make me cool? I don’t know,” Rea shrugged, laughing and saying that he would “drink that on the rocks” and that the more he drinks it, the more he likes it.

He compared the weird mix to Sangria due to the addition of “fruit juice” to wine — with the light blue Glacier Freeze Gatorade reportedly containing berry and citrus notes.

“I definitely don’t like it as much as Sangria, but I don’t like it any less than that,” he said with a confused laugh.

Rea ranked Gatorwine a six out of 10, noting that “in a very disgusting, perverse way, I like it.”

However, as the episode goes on and he continues to drink the wine while trying other recipes, he raises the score from a six to a seven.

The submitter of the “recipe” commented on the video saying he has been “ridiculed for almost a decade, and I will have this video playing on my gravestone.”

More people in the comments are itching to try Gatorwine, and even want to test it out with other flavors.

“I tried gatorwine yesterday. I was ready to hate it. I made more today. You win,” somene admitted.

“Can we get a proper Gatorwine sequel episode where we just mix different Gatorade flavors with cheap wines to try and create the perfect Gatorwine?” one asked.

“No matter what the scores say, Gatorwine was the clear winner,” another wrote.

“It’s CRIMINAL that Gatorwine only ranked a 7 when it accompanied every entry after it’s 1st consumption!” someone complained.

“The fact that he’s using the Gatorwine as a palate cleanser has me rolling,” one laughed.

Unemployed Wine Guy on TikTok even suggested that this is a good trick to make your bottle of red wine last longer.

Though after testing it with other Gatorade flavors, such as Glacier Cherry and Grape, he stands firm that the wine must be mixed with Glacier Freeze.
