One of the world’s tiniest airports has a waiting area under a mango tree

It’s about as domestic as airports get.

A travel influencer went viral sharing her experience flying through one of the world’s tiniest airports.

Rosy Palma, known online as @travelercolombia, posted a TikTok video of her day traveling through Hacaritama Airport in Colombia.

She told The Post she made the video “to show the beauty in simplicity.”

The tour begins as Palma walks up to a tree shading a row of seats set in the dirt making up the first waiting space.

The area also has a table with Colombian pastries and snacks available for purchase out in the fresh air.

Guests are directed to check their luggage themselves in the small indoor waiting area where they are given a ticket and then ushered back to the outdoor area.

“Here I have my hand luggage and over here you can see the other passengers waiting to be called to enter the second waiting room. On the other side is the runway for the planes. And the passengers who arrived late queuing in the sun,” Palma said in the viral video guiding viewers through the area.

She eventually made her way into the indoor waiting area as it got closer to time to board.

“This is the second lounge you enter when you are about to board,” she said.

“And before you enter, they do another manual check of your hand luggage.”

There is only one restroom for everyone working and traveling through the airport, but it was alright because Palma’s flight only carried 48 passengers.

And she noted that it was “quite spacious and clean.”

Travelers were allowed into their seats about 20 minutes before take-off and casually shuffled on board.

Although the plane was small, Palma noted that the seats were comfortable and that she enjoyed her experience.

Hacaritama Airport is the only airport in Aguachica, Colombia.

The small airstrip services small ATR aircraft — which typically only carry under 50 passengers.

But those wanting to get to the big city can only travel on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, according to FlightsFrom.com.
