For all the recency bias in our judgments, we still tend to think greatness from the past was so much better.

It can make us miss when something is happening right in front of us.

Of course, we can recognize that Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani are special. But do we also recognize that at one time MLB has two Babe Ruths?

Because what made Ruth into Ruth was how he differentiated himself from everyone else playing. There were years when Ruth was outhomering entire teams. He was playing a game no one else was playing.
