Wendy’s to reportedly release a ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ Krabby Patty meal
No one tell Plankton.
Wendy’s is reportedly coming out with its own Krabby Patty burger – an iconic item from the beloved Nickelodeon cartoon “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
The under-the-sea delicacy, which is cooked up by SpongeBob at the Krusty Krab, will reportedly become available on Oct. 8 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show, per what appears to be a leaked Wendy’s memo from Aug. 16 that was posted on Reddit.
The sandwich will be part of a Krabby Patty meal, with the concoction being detailed as “a premium cheeseburger with Wendy’s fresh, never frozen beef, topped with fresh produce and a secret Krabby Patty sauce, capturing the magic of the iconic fictional sandwich for SpongeBob fans,” according to the report.
Wendy’s will also reportedly release a “Pineapple Under the Sea Frosty” – a nod to SpongeBob’s home in the show – which will be made with the chain’s “signature Vanilla Frosty swirled with Pineapple Mango puree.”
The note teased the above-sea-level meal will only be available until Nov. 11.
“SpongeBob” fans took to social media, with some expressing excitement – and others calling the reported release a cash grab from the fast food chain.
“Me trying to figure out the secret formula after tasting it,” one user posted, accompanied by a Plankton, the show’s antagonist, meme.
“Wendy’s updating the prices for a simple ass burger that’s just called ‘krabby patty,'” another added.
A spokesperson for the fast food giant was coy on the reported cartoon collaboration, telling The Post: “While we can’t confirm what’s coming down Wendy’s innovation pipeline, we can share that we’re always looking to bring fans new menu items inspired by our fans’ cravings.”
