Liam and Noel Gallagher confirm Oasis reunion after 15-year hiatus: ‘This is happening’

The British rock band Oasis is finally reuniting after a 15-year hiatus.

Band members and brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher revealed the news on Tuesday, August 27 and announced a huge 2025 UK tour.

Liam, 51, and Noel, 57, both shared the news on their social media sites, writing, “This is it, this is happening.”

The brothers will play a total of 4 concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium, as well as 4 concerts in Manchester in addition to shows in Scotland, Wales and Ireland next summer.

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised,” Oasis wrote on X.

The brothers have had a notoriously acrimonious relationship over the years, leaving many fans to believe a reunion was impossible.

Speculation sparked that Oasis and the Gallaghers would reunite sparked over the weekend when the brothers shared on social media.

On Sunday, August 25, both siblings posted a video on X, which showed the date August 27 and 8 a.m. written in Oasis’ signature font.

Later that day, Liam, who has a penchant for posting about his brotherly-woes on X, went on to write, “I never did like that word FORMER.”

Also on Sunday, the younger of the two Gallaghers dedicated a performance of Oasis’ track “Half the World Away” to Noel during a set at the Reading Festival in England. The same 11-second video that he posted online played on a screen behind him as he sang.

Liam went on to dedicate the song “Cigarettes & Alcohol” to Oasis’ haters.

Liam and Noel’s reunion teaser happened just one day after The Sunday Times published an article reporting that the brothers would perform a series of concerts in the summer of 2025, including a 10-day stretch at London’s Wembley Stadium, and headline next year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Liam responded to a thread on X about the article, writing, “See you down the front ya big fanny kiss kiss x.”

The timing of the reunion announcement is notable. Oasis will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, “Definitely Maybe,” on August 29.

Formed in 1991 in Manchester, Oasis always centered on Liam and Noel, with other band members coming and going over the years. And from the band’s inception, the siblings were at odds with one another.

After years of blow-ups and trash-talking in the press, the group officially called it quits in 2009 when Noel announced he was leaving the band.

“It is with some sadness and great relief … I quit Oasis tonight,” Noel said in a statement at the time. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

Despite publicly making snide remarks about his brother over the past 15 years — including as recently as February 2024 — Liam seems to have always believed that Noel wanted to come back to the band.

“[Noel]’s desperate to get Oasis back, but he knows he’s crossed that bridge,” Liam told Q Magazine in 2018.

He went on to blame Noel’s ex, Sara, for blocking him from rejoining the group.

“[H]e’s not allowed to, his missus won’t let him now, cos she’s another one,” he said.

Noel and Sara announced their separation in January.

“I know for a fact, deep down, he wants to be playing stadiums,” Liam added. “You can only play stadiums when I’m there.”
