Gen Z is ditching this millennial-beloved decor for a buzzy new trend

Gen Z is on the grind.

The Zoomers are sick of alcohol and have been ditching booze in favor of more health-conscious beverages — and now they’re taking that mindset into the home as well.

The millennial bar carts are a thing of the past — and coffee carts are the new home decor trend to get behind.

People on TikTok are getting their carts from places like The Container Store and placing their machines, sugar, syrups and other coffee essentials on top.

Of course, these coffee carts are aesthetically pleasing as well, with syrups and sugars going into minimalist dispensers with labels for a unified look, and plants and artwork to dress up the coffee station.

Keurig and Nespresso pods are also included as well as stirring spoons and straws. Basically, anything one could need for a cup of joe is sitting readily available on the cart.

Having a bar cart rather than a coffee station is the latest thing that shows someone is a millennial rather than Gen Z.

And it appears this is a trend young people around the world can get behind.

Australian hardware company Bunnings Warehouse said in a TikTok, “At-home coffee stations are the new bar carts.”

They added that a “coffee cart is the perfect way to espresso yourself, bringing coffee shop vibes into the comfort of your own home.”

In their TikTok, the company went further than repurposing a bar cart — using a baby changing table for their coffee station.

On top of the push away from alcohol, the trend might have risen in popularity thanks to inflation and the increasing cost of getting a coffee at a coffee shop rather than making it at home.
